      1. How are people doing client side auth handling in React? Not the actual auth part, but how are you getting the auth details in the client?

      I should clarify this. I'm not doing local auth (user+pass), it's passwordless (i.e. 3rd party), so I can't ajax in a JWT token for storage.

    Okay, after looking at the options, the answer (for me) is to use SSR and prime the state with the authenticated user.
