        I splashed some isopropyl alcohol across the boards and chips, reinserted the power, and the area that evaporated fastest was the problem.

          It was likely something was going to overheat because of the amperage pull, and IPA evaporates quickly, especially with heat, so it can be used to debug (literal) hot spots. One memory chip was installed upside down 🤦, and now, incredibly, it boots
