elliotlewis not on the NHS but yes they exist. Really cool reason why they're not available too: the inner ear ones, if there's a fault, like a blockage, or doesn't charge, the entire unit has to be sent away, it'll be days/week before returned–

elliotlewis The "standard" ones, the tube disconnects and throws away. If it doesn't charge: new battery. Run out of juice and don't have batteries on holiday? Buy ones in shop easily (if you forget the charger for inner, you're screwed). It's all about ease and availability.
