Tried and paid for the muscle_booster app (yes, terrible name). The main thing it had going for it was the breadth of workouts and the visuals that help you understand how they work. TL;DR: terrible app, doubt if it was tested in a gym, programme's are automated junk.
-
Various issues, including: 1. the workouts that it prepares for you have autoplay/autoproceed - so if you don't finish your reps in "time" it'll just proceed with the next workout.
-
3. Starting a workout, then using another app - like, say Spotify to change your workout music, returning to muscle_booster app, it just bails the workout, completely resetting. (was this even tested 🤦)
-
4. The patronising video game-like "30 seconds, GO!" throughout the workout can't be disabled, no the auto play. I mean, that's literally one setting… could instantly be 10 times better. (how not to do app design)
-
5. The meal plan it provides is…a total joke. Sure, I'm going to lose body fat now that you've put me on a 850cals per day 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ The use BMI and muscle_booster does some maths to work out to put you in deficit. If you understand nutrition, you'll know BMI is total bullshit
-
6. I've already cancelled—in under a week of use, but upon trying to get a refund, as per distance selling law, muscle_booster says it's policy I agreed to wavier that law - except, there's literally no time that I agreed to any policy ("implicit agreement" is a dark pattern).
-
So yeah. Hard pass. Lots of other minor issues. Strongly recommend avoiding (if you want a great app, FitNotes - highly recommend, but it won't generate a routine for you). They're also under 4homefitness, musclebooster-io and musclebooster-fitness.

I guess I should review more of these apps, to find if there's actually any out there that are useful and worth actually using the gym...
