ChrisFerdinandi short version: redux is for state control. Hooks does a lot of that out of the can. It's not as advanced (by far), but "advanced" isn't always required for daily dev. "Just a bit of state". It's a fancy paradigm, and it's slick, but honestly, I doubt if it it'll exist in a decade
